The Data Capability Exchange (DCx) is a section of the Enterprise Strategy and Modernisation Branch within the Organisational Transformation Division. Our team, a collaborative and driven group of professionals, is dedicated to empowering business operations with data analytics and visualisation, thereby informing broader organisational policies and procedures. This is an exciting period as we partner with the Election Systems Modernisation program to reshape the AEC's systems and processes landscape. As a team member, you'll witness the tangible impact of your efforts, including the successful execution of federal elections and other electoral events and services. The Opportunity Reporting to the GIS Manager (EL1), your duties will include managing and maintaining the Agency’s Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to ensure the accuracy, currency, consistency, and effectiveness of spatial information throughout the organisation. You will also be responsible for developing and deploying maps, apps, and other visualisation tools using ESRI suites, as well as creating complex and interactive ESRI web tools for data analysis and interpretation. Additionally, you will provide expert advice using analytics and insights derived from up-to-date spatial and non-spatial data to enhance decision-making and project outcomes. Engaging with stakeholders to customise the GIS system to meet organisational requirements, including updating software and developing mapping applications tailored to team needs, will also be a key part of your role. To excel you’ll have:
Relevant experience and qualifications in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) or significant demonstrated experience in a similar role.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
A proven background in GIS administration, specifically Microsoft SQL Server, Arc GIS Enterprise and Arc GIS Online.
Knowledge of, or ability to, quickly gain knowledge of Australian electoral law and practice.
A demonstrated ability to work autonomously and a strong commitment to working harmoniously within a team to achieve positive results and support the AEC’s strategic direction
