Provide effective leadership to a team of planning specialists on the Sydney Water (SW) network.
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Capacity Planning & Optimisation Lead to join the Customer Experience team within Sydney Water. The purpose of this role is to provide effective leadership to a team of planning specialists that optimise the utilisation of labour, major and minor plant, and equipment (P&E) to ensure operations and maintenance programs on the Sydney Water network are delivered at optimum cost to meet service levels and priorities. The role ensures the delivery and optimisation of planning services. Fostering a high-performance culture to meet customer expectations. May be required outside of ordinary hours including weekends to carry out the role of Incident Manager or Operations Controller or any other role in the Emergency Control Centre as required. About the role Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
Accountable for Short term (3-month horizon) resource capacity forecasting and analysis and setting resource capacity plans including facilitating decision making to address gaps
Complete Capability and Capacity Demand and Supply forecasting and analysis (rolling 24 months)
Facilitate the development and decision making of plans to address identified gaps
Prepare Business cases for P&E investment.
Monitor and analyse Field Service Management (FSM) Business Rules
Plan input to ensure effective and efficient delivery of preventative maintenance programs.
Contribute to the creation and maintenance of job plans for civil linear assets, working with stakeholders to ensure the right level of detail and accuracy of information (task duration, resource requirements, specifications) to facilitate the automation of scheduling and dispatch of WOs in IFS
Optimise preventative maintenance programs (budget v actual v forecast) through their delivery cycle via relevant management systems
Implement efficient and customer centric processes for capacity planning and optimisation.
Resource Supply Forecasting
Identify what quantity of each resource capability type are available, where & when
Capacity Analysis & Decision Making
Decide on quantities, locations and timing for each resource capability for the coming three-to-twelve-month period, to meet forecast work demand, response time, cost, utilisation and efficiency targets.
Prepare, update, and maintain the rolling three-to-twenty-four-month Capacity Plan (for each resource type, labour, location requirements, and major and minor P&E) including Packages of works for contractor delivery partners.
Continuous improvement of rosters to ensure we meet both operational and financial targets for our teams
Analyse insights on the root causes provided by Customer Hub on consequences and impacts of dispatch exceptions and other improvement opportunities and feed this back to Field Service Improvement team Hub for recommendations on changes to business rules.
Monitor and analyse IFS Business Rules, and recommend and implement adjustments to ensure the system optimises variables in line with delivery priorities and delivery optimisation
Develop, update and implement standard operating procedures are for all activities within the scope of the team
Deliver improvements in customer experience through the development and implementation of enhanced capacity and maintenance planning processes, in line with the corporate vision.
Manage complex stakeholder relationships
Manage team labour budget
Position will operate and influence improvement of applicable systems.
Ensure systems of work and processes are effective and support the work to be done
About you
A tertiary qualification in engineering or science, or experience deemed equivalent.
Extensive experience in utility network operations and maintenance/renewals (desirable)
Extensive experience in capacity planning
Extensive experience at a senior level in managing technical issues relating to capacity planning.
Demonstrated leadership in a team environment and operate as part of a management team
Demonstrated experience in building effective business and stakeholder relationships
Proven ability to influence change
Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills at all levels both internal and external to the organisation, with the ability to establish a high degree of credibility.
Demonstrated ability in leading a high performing technical team, driving business performance.
Demonstrated project management and business planning skills
Demonstrated capability and commitment to improvement of customer and safety culture and efficiency outcomes
