The Recruitment Team is a dedicated professional team seeking to fill one ongoing APS5 position. The role available will see you working across the branch and wider business areas to contribute to the department’s objective to attract, retain and develop the right people for the right jobs at the right time.

Key responsibilities for the APS 5 officer will include:
  • duties that are moderate to complex in nature and effectively manage competing priorities
  • assisting to manage the day-to-day operations of the Team, including supporting managers and team members
  • facilitation of recruitment consultations to business areas to inform them of best practice
  • advertising in press and APSJobs and managing end-to-end recruitment processes
  • update recruitment material as necessary (e.g. guidance documents, SOPs, templates, intranet content, etc.)
  • management of inbox, including answering more complex queries
  • contributing to recruitment strategies, policies and continuous improvement of processes, systems and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and APS policy and practices
  • other duties as directed
Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate their capability against the APS level 5 Work level standards and have:
  • Experience in or demonstrated ability to quickly learn managing end-to-end APS recruitment as part of an in-house recruitment function serving internal stakeholders
  • Understanding of or demonstrated ability to quickly learn the Public Service Act, APS Commissioner’s Directions, and other relevant restrictions and guidelines that relate to APS recruitment
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
  • Experience with SAP and Success Factors is highly desirable but not mandatory
  • Ability to build strong relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders to ensure the best possible hiring outcome is achieved
  • Ability to communicate to internal and external audiences as well as good verbal, written and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail

Eligibility requirements
Employment with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts is subject to conditions prescribed within the Public Service Act 1999 including:
  • Citizenship: candidates must be an Australian citizen at the time of submitting your application.
  • Health Assessment: the preferred candidate may be required to undergo a medical examination conducted by the department’s preferred medical provider.
  • Security Clearance: the successful candidate must be able to obtain and/or maintain a security clearance at Baseline level. You must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information. You must have lived in Australia, or have a checkable background, for at least the preceding five years for Baseline Vetting clearances. More information on the security clearance vetting process is available on the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) website.

Timeline and assessment
A selection panel will be established to assess your suitability against the advertised role. The panel usually contains three panel members from the department, with one from a different area.

We are looking to establish a merit pool from this process for any future ongoing and non-ongoing opportunities.
