Launceston is the regional hub of Northern Tasmania and

Total remuneration $81,323 - $89,612* pro-rata
*Total pro-rata remuneration includes superannuation, as detailed

Base salary $72,448 - $79,833* pro-rata

Superannuation Employer contribution of 12.25%


  • Annual leave: employees are entitled to 4 weeks (pro-rata for part-time employees) annual leave per
year, plus leave loading.
  • Personal leave (for sick and carer’s leave): employees are entitled to two weeks (pro-rata for part-
time employees) personal leave per year, if they are unable to attend work due to personal
illness/injury or to provide care for a spouse/partner or immediate family member.
  • Paid parental leave: employees are entitled to fourteen weeks paid (or twenty eight weeks at half-
pay) parental/adoption leave for the primary carer; two weeks paid leave for the secondary carer.
  • Long Service Leave: Long service leave applies after 7 years continuous service.

POSITION PURPOSE (Why does this position exists)
Collaboratively develop and deliver a range of educational programs using QVMAG Exhibitions and
Collections to support the Australian Curriculum Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and
Cultures Cross Curriculum priority with a primary focus on Northern Tasmanian Aboriginal histories and
cultures.

Support school, local community and museum activities to Closing the Gap in Aboriginal
educational/awareness outcomes and other relevant initiatives like the creation and assessment of
programs dedicated to First Peoples, ensuring their representation and cultural safety within educational
environments.

Continue the development and growth of Tasmanian Aboriginal museum-based, online and outreach
education programs that are available to all Tasmanian students (Prep to Year 12) and provide curriculum
and Aboriginal education advice.

Support community and educational projects, partnerships, and outreach efforts within QVMAG to
provide opportunities for the wider Tasmanian public to engage with Aboriginal education programs
through participation in selected QVMAG programs and events.

Provide ongoing opportunities for collaboration between Aboriginal Education Services and QVMAG,
particularly in regard to meeting the Tasmanian Government’s Closing the Gap commitments.

Enhance the networking and sharing of knowledge between educators working in Tasmanian Aboriginal
education, including the museum sector.
