Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly in temakis preparation, and will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our fine dining standards. The Sushi Chef will play a vital role in menu planning and food preparation, ensuring that every dish is crafted with precision and creativity.
Responsibilities
Prepare and present a variety of handrolls dishes, including handrolls, sashimi, with attention to detail and presentation.
Collaborate with the culinary team to develop innovative menu items that reflect current food trends while maintaining traditional Japanese techniques.
Ensure the highest standards of food safety and hygiene are adhered to in all food preparation areas.
Manage inventory of sushi ingredients, ensuring freshness and quality while minimizing waste.
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques and best practices.
Assist in the overall kitchen operations as needed, including food service during peak hours.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and surrounding areas.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role within the restaurant or food industry.
Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi preparation techniques.
Experience in menu planning and culinary creativity is preferred.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in food presentation.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.
