Job Description: Long-Term Substitute Math Specialist
Prospect Ridge Academy is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Long-Term Substitute (LTS) Math Specialist to join our team. The LTS will be responsible for delivering pre-planned instruction in mathematics to students at various ability levels, ensuring that each student’s educational needs are met throughout the duration of the assignment. In addition to providing high-quality instruction, the LTS will maintain a positive and disciplined classroom environment, fostering student engagement and learning. The role involves collaboration with students, parents, and fellow educators, all working together to support the goals outlined in the Prospect Ridge Academy Mission. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator to make a meaningful impact on student’s academic development while contributing to our school community.
Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct an organized and professional classroom or learning environment.

Plan and implement targeted Tier II & Tier III math instruction for students identified through assessments as needing additional support.

Demonstrate exceptional instructional delivery and best practices in mathematics.

Model and foster independent thinking skills, creative problem-solving, and abstract reasoning.

Show empathy and understanding toward all students while promoting accountability.

Communicate consistently and effectively with all stakeholders, including students, parents, and colleagues.

Develop cooperative partnerships based on mutual respect and objectivity with parents and students.

Assist teachers in identifying students needing targeted small group instruction and collaborate on progress monitoring.

Assess student performance frequently and objectively and facilitate the resolution of problems that may arise.

Participate in and facilitate MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) progress monitoring meetings with instructional staff.

Maintain compliance with MTSS by updating and reviewing student progress paperwork.

Manage assessment data and oversee assessment periods, ensuring that staff have the correct assessments and training.

Evaluate curriculum and recommend new resources through the curriculum committee.

Actively pursue professional development opportunities to stay current in best practices for mathematics instruction.

Follow policies established by the Prospect Ridge Academy Board of Directors, Adams 12 School District, and Colorado State-mandated school guidelines.
Education and Related Work Experience

BA or BS required, preferably in mathematics or education; Master’s preferred.

A current Colorado Teaching License is preferred; it must meet state certification requirements under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

Three years of teaching experience in an elementary or secondary setting is preferred.

Demonstrated experience in instructing students with varied learning styles and levels of mastery.

Commitment to the mission and vision of Prospect Ridge Academy, including Character Education and Positive Behavior Systems.

Ability to read, write, and interpret various documents, including rules, policies, agreements, and assessment rubrics.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work may occasionally be performed outside, with possible exposure to extreme temperatures.
