This position begins January 2, 2025
JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Director of Student Wellness Services, the Student Wellness Services Administrator is responsible for implementing policies and procedures as assigned to work toward the department’s mission of ensuring “Each Student is Safe, Healthy, & Ready to Learn.” Must understand student discipline laws and procedures, guidelines and best practices, including a strong familiarity with CSD’s Levels of Student Behaviors and Progressive Intervention and restorative practices. Must be able to lead, supervise, facilitate, and work with students, parents, and school staff with safe school violations including District Support Team (DST) and District Case Management Team (DCMT) training, management and program oversight. Must be able to provide effective trainings to small and large groups of people, including school level administrators. Individual must be organized and have good technical writing skills and strong verbal skills to help with DST and DCMT planning, scheduling, facilitation, decision making, and case file management. Must take initiative, be forward-thinking, innovative, and be capable of working independently. Must be a team player able to coordinate effectively with school personnel and other District departments. This position may assume responsibilities within the department during the director’s absence, if so directed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Lead, manage, and provide direct oversight to CSD’s DCMT (District Case Management Team) and DST (District Support Team) processes utilizing CSD’s Student Code of Conduct Policy and Levels of Student Behavior and Progressive Interventions – held each Wednesday during the school year
  • Provide consultation to school administrators from start of investigation to DCMT case completion
  • Facilitate the DST and DCMT new cases and review for progress ongoing cases
  • Select case management team with representatives from each school level (Elementary, Middle School, and High School)
  • Coordinate and collaborate with school and district staff members, students, parents, and administrators to facilitate suspension reinstatement meetings
  • Oversee file management for each student involved in DCMT
  • Conduct a Safe Schools Policy review with each student and parent regarding violations to Student Code of Conduct Policy (Level IV or V)
  • Serve as part of the Policy Committee with Legal Services, CSD Leadership, and CSD Board Members on policies that relate to Student Code of Conduct and Discipline
  • Serve as the district Title IX lead investigator, decision maker, and consulting with legal team and school administration on all Title IX cases
  • Help refine, implement and support the DCMT regarding the decision-making process for student discipline, determinations, recommendations, resources and other supports
  • Provide training on proper investigative steps and practices for school administrators and aide in the documentation support process
  • Availability to guide and support school principals and assistant principals with disciplinary decision making in coordination with the School Performance Directors, including screening for all DCMT prospective cases (Level IV and Level V Behaviors)
  • Provide resources and support to principals, parents, staff members, and district departments as related to student discipline
  • Provide direct support to CSD’s Peer Court Program for disciplinary referrals, including training of student judges, running peer court, and student cases management and progress review.
  • Coordinate professional development activities regarding student discipline with district specialists and school administrators based on identified needs and using evidence-based programs (i.e., restorative practices, conscious discipline, etc.)
  • Direct the collection, organization and analysis of student data as it pertains to the DCMT and goals within the Student Wellness Services (SWS) Department.
  • Address complex situations with compassion, empathy, and professionalism with clear and timely communication.
  • Support students and schools with the reintegration process and coordinate with the SWS’s Program Administrator whom collaborates with JJYS and Juvenile Courts to ensure full compliance
  • Represent Canyons School District and Student Wellness Services on community agency representation and district committees
  • Help schools build capacity and confidence with investigative best practices
  • Support writing of grants and reports
  • Predictable and reliable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Incumbent must be fingerprinted and clear a criminal backgrounds check
  • Requires a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • A valid Utah professional educator license in School Leadership
  • Minimum of 5 years school-based administrative experience
  • Multi-level school-based administrative experience preferred
  • In depth knowledge of student code of conduct, DCMT, and levels of progressive intervention
  • In depth knowledge of student discipline laws, state board rule, and guidelines
  • Is flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment, and skilled at directing tasks and assignments with well-educated, opinionated and outgoing personalities
  • Must possess high degree of patience, dignity, empathy, and sensitivity
  • Attention to detail is imperative
  • Must have advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organize, case manage, and attend to detail
  • Skills in problem solving, negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution
  • Ability to lead and develop a strong, collaborative team
  • Ability to collaborate across settings, varying educational levels, all schools, and district teams
  • Ability to supervise and lead employees effectively
  • Accuracy and confidentiality are critically important
  • Must have outstanding organization, self-drive, and initiative, and a professional, courteous demeanor suitable for working at the executive level
  • Requires a valid driver’s license
NOTE: The Administration reserves the right to require specific training for this position. However, depending upon the type and quality of prior work experience and availability of formal training programs, some exchanges can be made between training and experience.
