Overview:
A Research Assistant II position is currently available in Dr. Vakhtin's laboratory at The Mind Research Network. The Research Assistant will work on studies examining various neurocognitive conditions, utilizing neuroimaging and neurocognitive assessment methods. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1) study participant recruitment, scheduling, and follow-ups, 2) data collection, entry, and curation, 3) study protocol development, 4) implementing, monitoring, updating, and documenting study aspects pertaining to regulatory compliance, 5) facilitating procedure harmonization across lab operations, 6) assisting with data processing. These responsibilities involve working with human participants of varying physical and mental capacities, operating in the MRI environment, as well as collection of biological samples (e. g. blood).
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related research field and 6 months or more of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities and have been attained.
All candidates should possess strong interest in, and preferably experience with, working with populations with neurocognitive health conditions; and should have completed some basic research methods coursework.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals. Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, as well as the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
Must be able to pass a background check.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications :
Experience in research involving human participants is preferred. In addition, strong candidates would have experience with using the Linux environment, performing statistical analyses, and programming using languages such as MATLAB, Python, and R. Experience in collection of biological samples (e. g. phlebotomy) and their processing would also be considered a strength.
Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in a dry laboratory environment. Will operate standard office equipment and will frequently stand, walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, use a telephone, perform repetitive motions and occasionally lift objects that weigh up to 20 pounds. May interact with research participants.

Salary:
Salary is commensurate with experience + $500 sign-on bonus.
