Responsibilities
The Registrar will direct the staff members and the activities of the Registrar Office to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of all students’ academic records earned at DSU as well as transfer academic credits from other colleges and universities. The Registrar Office records and posts the academic standing of students at the end of each semester based on the published academic-standing rules; provides students access to the registration process and assists when necessary; and reports student attendance by verification of enrollment to national student loan clearinghouse and Student & Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). In addition, the Registrar provides direction to the academic advising staff.
1. Direct and coordinate activities associated with the University’s registration and pre-registration process.
2. Supervise and manage Registrar’s Office staff members including recruiting, hiring, training, performance management, and counseling/academic advising.
3. Consult with department heads regarding transfer students whose previous academic work is undefined in terms of what courses should transfer.
4. Troubleshoot Registrar computer software questions, issues, and problems using the documentation manuals or consulting with SCT action line to solve more complex problems.
5. Roll grades to history, calculate GPA, and calculate academic standing at the end of each semester; provide deans with detailed probation and suspension list for evaluation.
6. Design, maintain, and update information about the Registrar Office on the University website.
7. Test upgrades for the administrative student software system in pre-production database before applying the live update with attached instructions to the production database.
8. Supply national student loan clearinghouse with semester enrollment information four times per semester and graduation degree information at the end of each semester.
9. Monitor and report to SEVIS the attendance dates and enrollment status of all international students.
10. Manage the preparation and organization of commencement programs.
11. Certify and maintain eligibility of all student athletes.
12. Other duties as assigned by the Provost.
