We are seeking an Assistant Registrar to join our team. The Assistant Registrar is an on-site position which will help the current Registrar with administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, overseeing pick-ups/drop-offs, updating object files, as well as assisting with other registration office duties. We are looking for someone who is passionate about art and understands the importance of proper record keeping and organization. Our ideal candidate has strong interpersonal and communication skills and is an intuitive thinker. Strong computer skills are required for this position. Minimum Qualifications Associate of Arts Degree with coursework in the arts, history, humanities, and/or library sciences. Two years of professional experience in an office setting with preference given to those with art gallery, archival, library, or museum experience. Volunteer work in one of these areas will be considered based on responsibility level and length of service. Experience with museum databasing or other asset management systems is a plus. Duties The Assistant Registrar will support the current Registrar with the following tasks:
Basic office tasks such as filing, scanning, e-mailing, uploading, file conversion, correspondence, etc.
Assist with shipments via Fed Ex, UPS, etc.
Meeting with shippers for the pick-up and drop-offs of artworks
Updating object files both physically and digitally using our collections software
Creating folders and back labels for incoming artwork.
Inventory of collections via physical inspection, tracking movements, and more.
Entering expenses pertaining to artwork repair, framing, and/or transportation costs as necessary.
Working with gallery staff during installation. This usually entails running errands, picking up supplies, and ensuring that the art handlers are on schedule.
Occasionally act as a point person for Registration Department
Occasionally prep artworks for shipment (no experience necessary)
