Job Summary
Weld Destruct Tech will be able to provide accurate samples to verify weld conformance to each customer’s specifications.
Duties and Responsibilites
Follow the Weld Destruct priority board to maintain the correct cut order.
Study roadmaps for proper weld id labeling and placement.
Use roadmaps, lab paperwork, plasma cutters, and electric/pneumatic sanders to prepare weld samples for the Weld Lab.
Ensure all applicable JSN's are scrapped out in the BGM hold system to maintain accurate inventory records.
Prepare work area for following shift by implementing 5S and communicating any relevant information.
Perform additional weld testing, length inspections, link destruct, rivet cuts, and Weld Lab procedures as needed.
Communicate with the Weld Lab on cut inventory, cut order (priority), cut frequencies, and required ID's to cut.
Support co-workers through teamwork, training, overtime, etc.
Participate in the Weld Destruct 5S rotation schedule.
Continuous improvement by meeting productivity goals, learning and sharing knowledge, and improving skill and ability.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or GED
Minimum of 1 year work experience in a manufacturing environment
Post-secondary education preferred, or related experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Dependable and predictable attendance
Ability to work unsupervised
Knowledge of Resistance Spot Welding and common welding defects
Technical and/or Quality background desired
Good knowledge of welding process and defects common to Resistance Spot-welding
Knowledge and experience in weld quality destructive test methods
Able to maintain good safety and attendance performance
Able to complete tasks with limited supervision
Excellent organizational skills
Able to work as member of team
Capable of obtaining U-T Level II Certification.
Knowledgeable in the use of precision measuring equipment
Ability to detect and repair (within cycle times) all weld defects within your zone
