Position Summary: OPAL Fuels, an industry leader in Renewable Natural Gas and Renewable Energy, has an immediate need for Manager of Project Engineering. This role is responsible for providing technical support for pre-construction and project management, managing external engineering resources who are performing commercial / industrial engineering projects nationwide and who are technical experts in certain areas related to biogas projects. The role will also manage engineering resources to support specific operational issues as assigned. Incumbent can reside anywhere in the continental United States with a manageable commute to a major commercial airport as this position will have overnight travel responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have related experience with processes related projects in Biogas, Oil & Gas, Refinery, Chemical Process, and other related process projects. Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage engineering resources to support development, pre-construction, construction, commissioning, and operations phases.
Support Director of Preconstruction in preparation of initial Engineering Request for Proposal (RFP).
Serve as the primary point of contact and maintain consistent and thorough communication with key stakeholders (both internal and external).
Accountable for safety, scope, budget, and schedule of your projects.
Enforce and facilitate the management of project change process on your projects.
Review and approval of proposed changes and design change notices.
Projects will be a mix of the following: Conversion of biogas to Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) or biogas to Renewable Electricity; Greenfield development, brownfield redevelopment, or distressed asset rehabilitation; EPC or design bid build project delivery.
Oversee or directly perform the completion of:
o Company documentation of engineering specifications and procedures
o Periodic updates to company’s engineering specifications
o Engineering to support owner related permitting.
o Contracting with consultants and engineering firms.
o Negotiations and contractual agreements as required to provide necessary technical resources.
o Providing engineering resources necessary to support utility interconnections (natural gas, power, water, sanitary, internet, etc.).
Qualifications and Skills:
Ten plus years of industrial scale engineering management experience.
Experience working on gas processing projects such as RNG, gas transmission and compression, gas treating, air separation, LNG, CNG, hydrogen, or related.
Four-year technical/engineering degree from an accredited educational institution required. Chemical, mechanical, or petroleum, engineering degree preferred but not required.
PMP certification preferred but not required.
Must be able to adapt and pivot in response to changes on a day-to-day basis.
Demonstratable skills and experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore, Primavera, or MS Project.
Strong understanding of project controls and contract management.
Ability to manage concurrent projects in multiple states.
Approximately 30% travel overnight normally.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
A strong candidate will have an existing network of vendors, consultants, and contractors throughout the US and be able to deploy those resources to support the overall goals of the Upstream Construction group.
Can reside anywhere in the mainland USA near a major commercial airport.
Must have appropriate experience within the United States.
Work Hours: Standard Monday - Friday, 1st shift (exempt position); must be available for after-hours/weekend calls as business needs demand.
