Position Summary: Responsible for overseeing the Adolescent Family Life Program (AFLP) group of case managers, creating a supportive, productive work environment, and meeting agency/contract performance objectives. Primary responsibilities include the supervision and training of staff, quality control and community liaison. This position is South Los Angeles. Essential Functions:
Interviews, hires and supervises staff; provides on-the-job training to staff based on assessment of individual staff needs.
Participates in agency staff training activities and provides input on overall staff training needs.
Supervises individual staff using weekly Reflective Supervision practices; formally evaluates staff on a scheduled basis utilizing case record audits, observation of client visits, and input from clients and community agencies.
Obtains consultation on psychosocial and mental health issues from agency personnel and assures that staff receive adequate clinical supervision of cases; conducts frequent supervision around high- risk cases and guides/directs staff regarding suspected child abuse reporting and follow-up.
Conducts unit/office staff meetings at least monthly to ensure workflow problems are resolved and activities and programs operate smoothly. Assesses and works toward resolutions around concerns trending in the population served (access to reproductive healthcare, contraception, homelessness, food insecurity, etc.).
Coordinates outreach efforts to maximize program exposure within the South LA community and maintain sufficient referrals and a wait list; partnerships with key referral sources and the wider systems of care serving expectant and parenting youth through regular contact and collaboration.
Coordinates program activities within agency with other supervisors in Teen Family Services and other internal programs.
Assures accurate and complete quantitative and qualitative data is submitted to funding and contract sources at required frequency.
Prepares monthly reports on individual and team performance toward meeting program objectives and any additional reports as may be required.
Establishes and maintains liaison with assigned schools and community agencies through face-to-face meetings and other means of communication.
Represents El Nido at assigned community meetings or events.
Conducts some direct client services such as orientations and client groups.
Participates in case management and supervisory training as appropriate.
May need to manage case managers caseload when necessary.
Broaden agency visibility through community outreach activities.
Reviews closed client files on a weekly basis to assure documentation completion and accuracy.
Position Requirements:
Master’s Degree required in social work, public health, education or other health-related or social science field and (1) one year of experience coordinating or implementing health or social programs in communities and schools OR a Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, education or other health related or social science field and three (3) years of experience coordinating or implementing health of social programs in communities and schools.
Computer literate
Effective verbal and written communications skills.
Ability to support and motivate staff, through coaching and training.
Bilingual/Spanish a plus.
Skills to manage and monitor large quantities of data and assure accuracy and timeliness of data and reports.
Community and interagency collaboration strategies and skills to engage in successful collaborative activities.
Valid California drivers’ license, satisfactory driving record, and an insured automobile to drive to clients’ homes, transport clients, or visit other locations as necessary.
