About this role
The Process Operations Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the operational performance of the leaching facilities at Newmont. This role involves ensuring that production targets are achieved, operations are optimized, and safety and environmental standards are maintained. The superintendent will collaborate with other departments and sites to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement in the operation.

  • Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the leaching facilities, ensuring the optimal performance and achieving production targets.
  • Process Optimization: Constantly evaluate and improve processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and output while maintaining safety and environmental standards.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage the operations team, ensuring that all staff are trained and working according to operational protocols and safety procedures.
  • Budget and Cost Control: Manage the operational budget, monitor expenditures, and ensure that costs are controlled while meeting production goals.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments and sites to ensure consistency in operational processes and sharing of best practices.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all operations comply with state and federal safety regulations, environmental policies, and company guidelines. Lead safety meetings and conduct regular audits.
  • Staff Development: Manage hiring, training, and professional development of direct and indirect reports, utilizing the Leadership Pipeline and People Development Centre for continuous improvement in team capabilities.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates on production status, process improvements, and operational performance to managers.
Your Training, Skills & Experience checklist
Here is what we need to see from you
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Metallurgical Engineering preferred) or a combination of education and 8+ years of related experience.
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in operations, preferably within a mining or metallurgical environment.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of leaching processes, metallurgical operations, and safety protocols. Proficient in interpreting technical data, process literature, and SDS sheets.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop a high-performing team in a complex, dynamic environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and implement process improvements.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with different departments and levels of management.
  • Compliance: Strong knowledge of federal and state safety regulations and environmental policies.
Working Conditions & Location
  • Environment: This role involves working in an industrial setting with exposure to chemicals, heavy equipment, and varying weather conditions with area altitude up to 10,600 above sea level.
  • Physical Demands: Standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds may be required—occasional climbing and working at heights.
  • Schedule: Full-time position with occasional extended hours or weekend work depending on operational needs.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $138,240- 164,160. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.


This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance. This role also will be eligible for participation in a discretionary long-term incentive program, pursuant to which an employee may receive awards based on their level and individual performance.
