The City of Durham’s Office of Performance and Innovation in the Budget and Management Services Department seeks a public service-motivated, community-oriented individual to assist with data analysis. This is a part-time position (approx. 15-20 hours per week) responsible for working with Participatory Budgeting (PB) staff to extract meaningful insights from data, identify trends, and inform residents, staff, and leadership about PB outcomes. A highly competitive candidate will have experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis and strong oral and written communication skills.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Collect, organize, and interpret data sets from various sources (e.g., databases, external data, surveys).
- Quantitative and Qualitative analysis of PB program data.
- Clean and preprocess data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations.
- Manage PB data platforms.
- Other special projects and data analysis projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors degree or a current graduate student studying a field related to: Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Planning/Urban Design, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and thoughtfully analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
