Payroll Specialist Hiring Manager: Eric Anderson Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 Benefits: Non-Administrative Meet and Confer Group B General Essential Functions:
Collaborate on workflow and processes for Payroll and Benefits Department staff to pay employees timely and accurately
Assist with, update, and organize the payroll/timekeeping systems to process payroll information
Audit new employee demographics including W-4s, direct deposit information, and set up for certain employee groups
Keep accurate records during employee changes and school year rollover
Reconcile interface for hours/leaves for payroll processing
Analyze daily edits
Understands the interface between software systems and the ability to troubleshoot issues
Maintain payroll records and files
Maintains leaves, leave accruals and employee tax deductions
Comply with all local, state, federal laws and regulatory requirements regarding payroll processes, taxes, garnishments, payments, and filings
Assists with the production, issuance of paychecks/direct deposits and deduction checks
Process administrative, certified, and classified payroll on a bi-weekly basis
Document and update procedures
Maintains payroll related accounts, responsible for the reconciliation and accuracy of multiple balance sheet accounts
Process levies and garnishments
Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests
Keep detailed records for taxes and audits
Work with accounting and HR on payroll functions
Maintains confidentiality for all payroll operations
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops and trainings
Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage payroll tasks
Comfortable in both leadership and team-player role
Encouraging team and staff; able to mentor and lead

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Proven history of successfully training others in use of softwarehardware and online resources Demonstrated skill in advanced use of payroll processing systems Experience integrating new technologies and online resources into work practices. Business degree or related field preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and implement ideas contained in technical documents, assessment data, professional journals and regulations. Ability to effectively write reports, training documents, and communications to varied stakeholder group. Ability to effectively present information orally and respond to questions from technical and non-technical staff.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, decimals and fractions. Ability to use formulas, spreadsheets, and databases. Ability to assist staff in implementing these mathematical concepts and tools.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve problems effectively. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
