General Summary:
The Pallet Repair person is responsible for repairing CHEP pallets that are in need of repair and delivering them to and from the repair platform in a manner that meets company standards for safety, security, and productivity while adhering to CHEP's quality criteria. The Pallet Repair person is responsible for the completeness and correctness of all pallets repaired. Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities(functions considered essential as defined by ADA)
Pallet Repair
o Safely and securely repair pallets at a rate that meets company standards and in a manner that meets company safety standards.
o Manually lift 70 lb. pallets from a stack to a repair table.
o Operate a pry bar to detach damaged boards from the pallets.
o Operate a hammer, grinder and a saw to remove existing nails and finally, using a 2lb nail gun to nail together the components.
o Pallet must meet and pass CHEP's quality control audit.
Safety, Sanitation, Security
o Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
o Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse.
o Conduct operations in a manner which promotes safety.
o Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards.
o Must wear all safety equipment while repairing pallets.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Comprehend basic math.
- Ability to operate power tools in a safe manner.
- Must be able to follow repair process.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a
frequent basis.
- Must be able to use proper techniques to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
- Capable of standing and walking for extended periods of time (at least 2 hours straight, four times in an 8 hour day).
- Able to use hands and feet simultaneously and perform repetitive movements.
- Carpentry or construction background is helpful, but not required.
