Position Summary The paint prep technician will be responsible for setting up and operating machinery to prepare for painting metal parts to specifications. Essential Duties/Job Responsibilities (Job Duties)
Prepare surfaces for coating by sanding, buffing, polishing, and cleaning objects.
Inspect and assess coatings, performing quality checks.
Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions.
Perform material handling functions, including loading materials for job runs using hoist or forklift.
Wash frames to prep for powder coating.
Deliver finished parts to warehouse/production.
Minimum Qualifications/Skills:
High School Degree or GED
Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
Ability to skillfully, and safely operate job specific tools and equipment.
Ability to work independently within a team environment.
Strong attention to detail.
Regularly use verbal communication skills.
Possess mechanical skills; Machining skills also appreciated.
Experience:
General material handling experience.
Experience in a light manufacturing or sheet metal manufacturing setting preferred.
Forklift experience a plus.
Requirements:
Work environment and working conditions are reflective of a light manufacturing setting.
Perform work on concrete floors for duration of shift.
Must be able to lift and move (push, pull, carry) items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to raise arms above shoulders regularly and freely rotate arms/shoulders to lift/move parts.
Must be able to kneel, crouch, stoop, bend, and squat when needed.
Work will include repetitive hand, arm, wrist, and leg motion.
Will need hand and finger flexibility and dexterity and excellent eyesight with or without corrective lenses.
