Heartwood provides opportunities for children and families to learn through direct experience while hiking, playing, and exploring at Saint Edward State Park in Kenmore, WA. Our educators act as mentors, role models, and guides for the children as they spark engagement, create connections, and learn alongside the children each day. The Educator/Program Assistant role will support and co-lead classes in our school-year nature programs and summer camps, as well as support our program development team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Educator
Co-lead field trips & other programs
Substitute in classes
Collaborate on lessons in alignment with themes
Actively integrate participation, compassion, thought, and informed action to build a supportive learning community
Perform daily and ongoing site risk assessments
Responsible for the safety and health of students, ensuring they are in dry clothes and providing first aid care as needed
Parent communication
Team meetings
Other duties as assigned
Program Assistant
Substitute in programs as needed
Participate in staff meetings and activities
Provide support to educators through training and day to day support
Support Coast Salish educational resources and trainings
Assist in the creation and maintenance of documents and forms
Organize, deliver and maintain class materials, supplies and resources
Assist in program planning and implementation
Develop positive relationships with partner organizations
Website - Regularly check for accuracy and update as needed
Utilize Microsoft Office for communication and planning
Community engagement through work parties and other gatherings
Support Executive Director and Program Developer as needed
Plan, organize, and facilitate volunteer training
Other duties as assigned

Hour Schedule:
School-year: 10 hours per week
2 days/week
Mondays required; Mondays and Tuesdays required in the spring
Option for more hours if available to sub additional days
Summer camp: up to 40hrs/week, 4-5 days/week for 7 weeks
Compensation: $21-$23/hr Gear Stipend 401k 5% match after 1 year Contract through the first week of August 2025 is required, with potential for annual extension and more days.
