The Office of Admissions is responsible for the marketing, recruitment, application processing and orientation of new undergraduate students and the maintenance and processing of their records. The office is responsible for upholding Board of Regents and University requirements, policies and procedures regarding applications for admission, residency, acceptance of transfer credit and other issues related to enrollment. The successful candidate must have a desire to become part of a successful and energetic recruitment program, be goal-oriented, be able to organize time, tasks and record-keeping systems and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and management of large-scale events serving up to 2,000 participants.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently while serving in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
- Hire, train, and supervise student employees and assist with the management of the Orientation Leader Program.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with a wide variety of campus offices.
- Coordinate marketing and promotional efforts to prospective students and their families through mail, website maintenance, and email.
- Resolve conflict situations tactfully and professionally.
- Disseminate vital information accurately and efficiently over the phone, by email, and in person.
- Collect, enter and maintain prospective student information in various databases and CRM technologies.
- Manage email and phone inquiries and serve as the first point of contact for prospective students and their families.
- Assist the Associate Director-New Student Programs with special projects, as needed.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary education plus applicable experience working with students and programs or activities, or a combination of education and/or applicable experience.
- Demonstrated excellent written communication and customer service skills, including effectiveness in small group discussions and one-on-one conversations.
- Demonstrated competence in organizing and prioritizing workloads, functioning independently using good judgment, initiative, and discretion.
- Demonstrated ability to assist in the planning and facilitation of large-scale events and programs
- Demonstrated competence using a large database, word processing, e-mail, and internet software and the ability to accurately and efficiently perform data entry.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
- Experience with college/university student recruitment efforts.
- First-hand knowledge and experience with student development programs and initiatives.
- Experience with Banner or similar software package/relational database.
- Knowledge of or experience with MSU Bozeman Policies and Procedures.

- Effectively operate work related equipment.
- Possess the ability to communicate effectively with employees and the public in person, over the phone and by email.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public in a team-oriented environment; ability to represent the Office of Admissions and its programs to others in a professional and courteous manner.
