Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate OR Circulator Registered Nurse (RN) to join our surgical team in Vermont. As an OR Circulator RN, you will be responsible for managing the operating room environment, ensuring patient safety, and supporting the surgical team in performing various procedures. Your role will be critical in maintaining sterile techniques, coordinating surgical procedures, and advocating for patients before, during, and after surgery. The ideal candidate will have experience in the operating room as a circulator, possess strong clinical knowledge, and have excellent communication skills to ensure the smooth flow of operations and provide the highest standard of care to our patients. Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the circulator in the operating room, ensuring the safety and sterility of the environment throughout the surgical procedure
Verify patient identity, surgical site, and planned procedure in collaboration with the surgical team
Prepare and manage operating room supplies and equipment, ensuring readiness before surgery
Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping in preparation for surgery
Monitor the patient's condition throughout the procedure, responding to changes or emergencies as necessary
Document all relevant information, including surgical interventions, patient vitals, and any changes during the procedure in the electronic medical record (EMR)
Coordinate with the surgical team to ensure all required equipment and instruments are readily available and sterile
Communicate with the patient’s family regarding updates before and after surgery
Follow strict infection control protocols and patient safety guidelines
Ensure a smooth post-operative transition, providing patient education and follow-up instructions as needed
Shift Details:
12-hour shifts
Rotating weekends and on-call coverage as required
Flexible scheduling based on OR needs
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
Current RN license in Vermont or compact state license
AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
Proven experience as an OR Circulator Nurse
Strong knowledge of sterile techniques, patient safety, and infection control
Ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other team members
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
