Pathologist Assistant

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Pathology Assistant (PA) to support our pathology team in performing surgical specimen and frozen section dissections under the supervision of a Pathologist. The PA will assist with accurate gross descriptions, maintain quality assurance and control, and ensure effective instrument maintenance. This role requires strong customer service skills to foster positive relationships with pathologists, providers, and staff, as well as a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:

Specimen Processing: Accurately identifies patient specimens, performs dissection on complex surgical specimens, and prepares quality material for histology and specialized tests.
Frozen Sections: Conducts frozen sections and maintains cryostats according to standard procedures.
Gross Description Dictation: Provides complete and precise gross descriptions of specimens.
Equipment Maintenance: Ensures cleanliness, equipment upkeep, and adequate supplies in the surgical pathology and morgue areas.
Quality Assurance: Participates in quality control, monitors results, and performs troubleshooting for discrepant findings.
Collaboration: Communicates with pathologists and healthcare providers to report results promptly and professionally.
Compliance: Ensures compliance with CAP and maintains accurate procedural documentation.

Qualifications:

Certification: Pathologists’ Assistant certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) within 12 months of hire.
Education & Experience: Graduate of a Pathologists' Assistant program, or equivalent experience in anatomic pathology.

Job Type: Contract
Pay: $80.07 - $92.81 per hour
Expected hours: 36 per week
