**Sign-on-Bonus $1,000.00**
This position reports directly to the Supervisor, Lab/Tech Services.
What you will do:
Prepare, make, and report physical and chemical determinations on production daily and monthly composite samples
Detect unusual results and technical failures and take corrective actions
Be familiar with operations, maintenance and minor trouble shooting of all instruments and equipment used to perform all analyses
Prepare, standardize, and maintain all reagents and solutions necessary to guarantee analytical accuracy in the laboratory and plant
Be familiar with calculations necessary to take proper weights and dilutions to make necessary adjustments.
Establish and maintain spare parts, chemicals, and supply inventories necessary to run the lab
Recognize and perform maintenance and repairs as necessary to maintain instruments, equipment, hardware, utilities, etc. or initiate necessary job ticket
Provide routine preventative maintenance programs, as required
Properly train plant operators to run required production control analyses
Administer a regular check of plant operators’ analytical technique in running production control analyses to maintain maximum analytical accuracy
Train shift operators to run samples of product and screens; maintain update training with operators
Maintain an updated training manual and reference area on laboratory procedures, reagent preparation, and instrument operation
Maintain adequate inventories of water treatment chemicals and salt for water softener and boiler; maintain reagents necessary for testing water
Detect and initiate job tickets to correct water treatment malfunctions
Maintain file for entry on computer at office
Maintain permanent records of all lab analyses
Provide assistance to plant operators when requested to keep lab operational so that production control analyses can be performed
Follow all OSHA, plant and corporate safety rules and regulation
Conduct routine checks to ensure safety supplies and devices are in stock and operational
Follow all facility safety SOP’s
Be responsible for safe handling, storage, and disposal of all chemicals used in the lab
Have knowledge of OSHA regulations, along with the Animal Food and Quality and Safety Policy, Animal Food Safety Awareness and HACCP regulations
Regularly participate in site safety processes and site requisitioning, work order and MOC systems
What you will bring:
Associate's Degree in related field, is preferred
A clean-shaven appearance for safety reasons
Ability to wear required, company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE)
-i.e., uniforms, steel-toed boots, safety glasses
Compensation & Benefits:
$25.88 per hour (plus available overtime).
