The essential job responsibilities of the Operations Systems Specialist 1 are to provide entry-level support of the Outage Management System (OMS) and Distribution Management System (DMS) for electric utility services including analysis, coding, maintenance and troubleshooting. This may include any technologies and/or applications that interact with the OMS/DMS (e.g., AMI, ESRI). Specify, design, code, test, integrate and document software change requests and internal user requests for the OMS system applications which include problem solving, continuous improvement and standardization efforts for OMS related work processes. Utilize OMS system tools to supply the System Operators and internal users with customer information and data needed to perform their work functions which include working with other areas to interface to other MLGW systems that are needed for internal/external customer support and information sharing.

Qualifications
Qualification Requirements:
To perform the Operations Systems Specialist 1 role, you must:
Physical Working Conditions: Works inside the majority of the time under good conditions; occasionally makes field trips to electric facilities. Subject to eye fatigue and sitting for long periods of time.
Qualification Requirements:
To perform the Operations Systems Specialist 1 role, you must:
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or Business with a concentration in Information Systems or Math with a concentration in Computer Science or Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 12 hours college accredited Information Technology or Information Systems courses.
- Have 0 to 2 years of experience in outage Management system (OMS), Distribution Management System (DMS) or Distribution Automation System (DA) or cyber security, networking, programming or system analysis skills depending on departmental need
- Successfully complete NIMS Training within 1 year of entering job
- Have knowledge of computer operating systems and database administration
- Advanced knowledge of OMS/DMS/DA applications and theory, distribution engineering theory, or advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices related to electric, gas or water systems
- Have a valid driver's license from state of residence
