The Mathematics and Computer Sciences Department at Mercy University in New York invites applications for an open-rank tenured or tenure-track faculty position in Mathematics commencing in September 2025. We welcome candidates from all areas of specialization in Mathematics, particularly those with a secondary interest in teaching statistics and data science.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
We seek applicants who demonstrate the multicultural competence and awareness to teach diverse student populations at the largest private Hispanic-Serving Institution in New York State. We are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to our efforts to increase the representation of women and underrepresented groups in mathematics and STEM fields. Candidates should also be prepared to participate in departmental service and curriculum development initiatives aimed at enhancing student success in general mathematics education. Maintaining active scholarship, demonstrating excellence in teaching, and serving on department, school, and university committees are all required for tenure and promotion.

Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience:
- Demonstrated excellence in dynamic, equity-driven undergraduate teaching
- A commitment to helping us make Mathematics and quantitative reasoning relevant to the lives and professional aspirations of a diverse population of students
- A scholarly agenda that aligns with the research expectations of a tenure-track position at Mercy (where the Boyer model is utilized to help faculty articulate the relevance of their scholarship to our institutional mission)
Education Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Mathematics or a related field by the appointment date; or
- Doctorate in Mathematics Education for candidates who can demonstrate exceptional teaching and/or curriculum development achievements
