High Point University School of Law invites applicants to serve as Director of Faculty Support to assist the Dean in managing law faculty administrative, technology, and instructional support needs. The position presents the exciting opportunity to work with and directly support law school faculty both in and outside of the classroom. The anticipated start date for this position is November 18, 2024.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Experience and Training:
- Three or more years of experience in supporting law faculty, or its substantial equivalent.
- Experience using educational software in support of law faculty.
- General collaborative experience in supporting law faculty.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
- Willingness to contribute actively to the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of the School of Law and University.
- Outstanding organization and administrative skills, including a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and listening skills sufficient to work effectively with School of Law faculty, staff, and students.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills that enable candidates to communicate with friendliness, enthusiasm, patience, and respect.
- Strong computer skills and facility with technology, including advanced knowledge of educational software and the demonstrated ability to learn new software programs quickly.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Under the supervision of the Law Dean, provides administrative, technology, and instructional support to law faculty, including management of teaching evaluation processes; preparation and publication of course schedule documents, coordinating testing accommodations for students in conjunction with the OARS office; and management of courses in the HPU online system.
- Will supervise selected non-faculty law school staff as the school expands and more staff are hired regarding administrative, technology, and instructional support to law faculty.
- Works with University officials to coordinate the purchasing needed for law school operations.
- Assists with scheduling, promoting, and conducting law school programs and events.
- Assists with law school communications to internal University constituents and to external stakeholders.
- General administrative support to include calendar maintenance; scheduling of meeting/events; e-mail correspondence with faculty/staff/students; document preparation; and serves as delegate for processing law faculty expense reports.
- Serves as the first point-of-contact for adjunct faculty matters and supports adjunct faculty.
- Works with the Law Dean and Dean’s designees to ensure compliance with law school accreditation standards, bar admission requirements, and University policies and procedures.
- Works with the Law Dean and Dean’s designees to gather data for periodic reporting to accreditors and other law school surveying organizations.
- Provides support to students and staff as academic administration issues arise.
- Provides backup support for the Law Dean and coverage of the main reception area of the Dean’s Suite.
- All other duties as assigned.
