Position Function
: The Child Safety Review Specialist is responsible for conducting, reviewing, and monitoring the OCOK service delivery system to determine compliance with applicable standards, laws, policies, and procedures. This position will assist in ensuring the quality improvement process and compliance with casework standards. This position will be responsible for reviewing cases for both compliance and safety to include reviewing all case history for the case, summarizing the history, and participating in safety staffing as needed. This position will assist permanency staff in summarizing extensive CPS history and navigating IMPACT for case information as it pertains to child safety. This position may require contact with external partners to gather important information on open cases, either detectives or CPI staff. The responsibility of this position will also include reviewing CLASS for case history on facilities and providers for children who are placed in their care. This requires an extensive knowledge of both IMPACT and CLASS systems.
Educational Requirements
: A bachelor’s degree in social work or related degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience Requirements
:
One or more year’s experience in child protective services, project management, data collection, policy development or related work
One or more year’s experience with IMPACT and CLASS
Competence with reading and summarizing investigative reports
Competence in MS Office software products
Experience working with pressure situations that require immediate responsiveness, adaptivity through-out the activity and time-sensitive response
Experience with both verbal and written forms of communication
Functional Requirements
: The Child Safety Review Specialist manages the continuous quality improvement process within OCOK Case Management/Permanency model. Monitors OCOK case records, contracts, standards, and regulations to ensure compliance and child safety is maintained. Conducts internal, external, and specialized program studies to measure program effectiveness and provides feedback to program areas to improve practices. Reports findings and makes recommendations to supervisor and Program Director to correct discrepancies or improve services. Coordinates outcome measurement data within OCOK and recommends actions on areas not within compliance of standards.
Additional Functional requirements:
Participates in quality improvement activities to improve compliance, efficiency and effectiveness of service provision.
Assists in conducting internal quality/compliance reviews and makes recommendations.
Collects, analyzes, tracks and presents data for performance reporting, on a regular basis to the Supervisor.
Demonstrates an ability to collaborate with OCOK staff, TDFPS management staff to optimize the quality of services delivered to children and families.
Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with youth, families, collaborating agencies, outside professionals and OCOK staff.
Demonstrates good judgment and the ability to work independently.
Demonstrates an ability to continue learning through supervision, continuing education, and experience.
Must be able to handle a high degree of emotional stress related to client issues.
Must have excellent writing skills and the ability to complete reports and documents in a timely manner.
Working Conditions
: Frequent computer usage/typing required. Walking and/or driving to different ACH/OCOK locations for in-person meetings and follow-up. Communication by email, phone and virtual platforms occurs regularly.
Exposure to Confidential Information
: The Child Safety Review Specialist will have access to confidential records including criminal background checks, personnel records, child/youth records, foster care and adoption records, biological parent(s)/family records, caregiver(s)/foster parent(s) records and information. Must maintain confidentiality and follow policies related to all of these records.
