MEP PROJECT MANAGER The primary role of the Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing (MEP) Project Manager is to be a resource and provide guidance for Mc Gough’s entire construction team with regard to MEP systems from pre-construction to project close out, while providing best value to the project and our clients. Qualifications: Required:
5+ years experience with mechanical/electrical design/consulting or with mechanical/electrical contractor/general contractor
Ability to read, understand and identify mechanical/electrical code compliance and constructability issues in design drawings and specifications
Capable of creating scope of work documents for mechanical/electrical pricing by subcontractors
Knowledge of mechanical/electrical components and construction costs
Strong communication skills for directly interacting with Architects, Engineers, Subcontractors and Owners
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Construction Management
2+ year experience with MEP Estimating
Ability to navigate through REVIT and Auto CAD documents
Experience with estimating software
Experience with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
Office and Travel: In addition to regional meetings, overnight travel may be involved Responsibilities and Tasks:
Business Development
Participate in project pursuits and associated project interviews.
Manage and maintain MEP subcontractor relationships within the industry
Prepare and evaluate system comparisons and impact on project budget and design criteria
Review mechanical/electrical design drawings and specifications
Comment on potential mechanical/electrical code conflicts/requirements with the design
Comment on potential mechanical/electrical constructability issues with the design
Compare and evaluate options for mechanical/electrical systems as appropriate for project goals
Evaluate performance, life expectancy, maintenance and operating costs of MEP systems
MEP contractor selection
Assist in selection of MEP subcontractors for bidding
Prepare/develop MEP request for proposals (RFPs) to MEP subcontractors
Prepare and complete criteria for mechanical/electrical contractor selection
Confirm complete scopes are being provided by mechanical/electrical contractors
Manage/implement MEP pre-bid meetings and interviews
Evaluate feasibility of voluntary alternates provided by mechanical/electrical contractors
Provide RFP analysis and recommendation for MEP subcontractor selection
Assist with contract development with PM group for MEP subcontractors
Assist PM team during construction
Attend/manage meetings with project teams (internal/external) to present/review MEP pricing as necessary
Coordinate scopes, submittals, pricing, and manpower requirements to ensure compliance with project goals
Assist with creating Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules for our work
Identify and plan critical systems shutdowns
Conduct periodic site investigations to identify mechanical/electrical deficiencies
Perform quantity takeoff, unit pricing and estimate analysis for MEP design documentation
Develop value engineering items based upon documentation review
Work with construction team through project closeout and commissioning
Assist 3rd party commissioning agents in scheduling and completing commissioning logs
Assist in gathering and compiling closeout documentation for owner
Assist with punchlist preparation and resolution
Coordinate Owner training and transitional services
