The Medical Laboratory Technician position is responsible for performing laboratory tests including waived, moderate and high complexity, to comply with applicable regulations of organizations governing laboratories and according to established procedures to aid the physician in the diagnosis and monitoring of patients in various areas such as Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Parasitology, Serology and Transfusion Services under the supervision of a Medical Technologist. This person assumes responsibility and accountability for the duties of the position and is cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives, and policies of the Schneider Regional Medical Center and their respective Department. Education & Experience: Must have high school diploma or GED and an associate degree in clinical laboratory science or a Bachelor’s of Science degree or higher in Biology, Chemistry, Nursing, or equivalent – must be eligible to challenge an accrediting agency for certification. Specific Requirements, Skills and Abilities: An Associate’s prepared candidate must have a valid Medical Laboratory Technician certification from ASCP or equivalent; A bachelor's prepared candidate must obtain an ASCP or equivalent certification within 24 months of the hire date.
