Medical Biller

Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our team. As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for accurately coding and billing medical procedures and services. Your role will be crucial in ensuring timely reimbursement for medical services provided.

Duties:
  • Review and analyze medical records to determine appropriate codes for billing
  • Enter coded data into billing software systems
  • Submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by mail
  • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims
  • Communicate with insurance companies to resolve any billing issues
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
  • Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure proper documentation and coding practices
  • Assist with medical collections as needed
To excel in this role, you should have the following skills:
  • Minimum of 5 years medical billing experience
  • Out-of-network billing experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Review submitted claims for accuracy
  • Conduct timely follow-up and research on all unpaid claims with insurance companies
  • Work on insurance appeals and corrected claims correspondence
  • Utilize all available portals for claim information
  • Create and submit appeals and corrected claims packets, and other disputes, as necessary
  • Assist with obtaining pre-authorizations when needed
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, and ICD-9 coding systems
  • Proficiency in using medical billing software systems
  • Familiarity with medical office procedures and workflows
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
