Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our team. As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for accurately coding and billing medical procedures and services. Your role will be crucial in ensuring timely reimbursement for medical services provided.
Duties:
Review and analyze medical records to determine appropriate codes for billing
Enter coded data into billing software systems
Submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by mail
Follow up on unpaid or denied claims
Communicate with insurance companies to resolve any billing issues
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure proper documentation and coding practices
Assist with medical collections as needed
To excel in this role, you should have the following skills:
Conduct timely follow-up and research on all unpaid claims with insurance companies
Work on insurance appeals and corrected claims correspondence
Utilize all available portals for claim information
Create and submit appeals and corrected claims packets, and other disputes, as necessary
Assist with obtaining pre-authorizations when needed
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, and ICD-9 coding systems
Proficiency in using medical billing software systems
Familiarity with medical office procedures and workflows
Attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes
Excellent communication skills to interact with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
