Job Summary: Reentry Officer is responsible for the supervision and security of offenders residing at the Residential Reentry Center (RRC), and for maintaining a safe, controlled environment at all times. Essential Job Duties: Basic operation of the facility.
Perform admissions and release offenders, to include searching offenders and property and making inventory of the personal property. Distribute supplies; administer breathalyzer and drug tests; assign appropriate living quarters; log daily events; assist with referrals to community resources and agencies. Supervise resident movement inside and outside the facility. Conduct facility searches and maintain order in the facility.
Must attend all trainings assigned by the Operations Manager. These will include onsite/offsite trainings.
Records management
Maintain resident case files.
Safety, well-being and security
Administer all RRC safety and security procedures, including the control of weapons, contraband, keys, tools, doors and other related safety and security precautions.
Promote acceptable attitudes and behaviors of offenders to assist them in adjusting to a modified confinement setting.
Deliver meals and assist in meal preparation.
Disperse medication to offenders as directed by medical professionals.
Assist residents in the cleaning of the common areas. Ensure that offenders’ rooms, common areas and grounds are kept sanitary.
Implement disciplinary action in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Provide a secure level of surveillance by conducting security and safety inspections and scheduled population counts; complete required reports.
Inspect and maintain assigned areas and equipment to insure appropriate use of supplies.
Respond to inquiries regarding offender detention and RRC policies within the constraints of Department regulations. Operate equipment and utilize teletype communications. Testify in court and before the county commission. Attend training sessions and meetings as required.
Any other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager. Job Qualifications, Experience, and Education:
Minimum of 6 months in corrections or similar work environment, possessing a working knowledge and understanding of all the job functions of both day and night shifts preferred.
Must be capable of administering CPR or other safety procedures upon completion of provided training.
Must possess the ability to work with fellow Reentry Officers and lead by example.
Must possess the ability to work with personnel of other law enforcement agencies that work in tandem with the LRRRC.
Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
Must have valid driver’s license.
Must pass background check.
Working Conditions/Physical and Mental Demands:
Physical environment consists of a desk job with moderate movement required. Some travel may be required. Will include physical motions of walking, sitting, reaching, and minor lifting. Finger dexterity required for manual documentation.
Must possess the ability to perform duties effectively under stressful conditions, ability to make decisions quickly and accurately with tact and impartiality.
Moderate use of standard office equipment (telephone, copier, fax, calculator, etc.), as well as internal radio communications devices.
