The IT Low Voltage Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and supporting voice and computer networks within a carrier and enterprise class organization. The goal is to ensure smooth operation of voice and data communications networks to provide maximum performance and availability for end users. This job description is not an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities of this position. The IT Low Voltage Technician is expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goals and objectives of applicable programs.
The IT Low Voltage Technician is expected to live the Purpose and Values of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and will go beyond the call of duty.
Primary Responsibilities of the IT Low Voltage Technician
- Works with Low Voltage Engineer and Network Engineer on daily projects.
- Maintains fiber Infrastructure, including new construction.
- Works with building access control systems and new installs for access control systems.
- Maintenances, trouble shoots and configurations of fire/burglar systems.
- Responsible for audio visual trouble shooting, installation and configuration.
- Responsible for general networking trouble shooting and repair.
- Maintains the network Infrastructure and components within.
- Keeps surveillance systems maintained and manages new installs.
- Pages systems trouble shooting and configurations.
- Configures and troubleshoots networked lighting systems.
- Installs, troubleshoots, designs, and configures CCTV systems.
- Conducts test and replacement of UPS systems and batteries.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Day-to-day Responsibilities
- Monitors UPS, CCTV, and access systems.
- Audits systems for functionality and reliability.
- Maintains IDF/MDF.
- Works Helpdesk tickets that are related to your day-to-day responsibilities.
- Works with Low Voltage Engineer or Network Engineer on Projects.
Education/License/Certification and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or a combination of verifiable related education and experience equivalent to ten (10) years.
- Must have at least five (5) years of demonstrable background in managing projects.
- Requires ten (10) years of employment experience in structured cable and fiber experience.
- Must have ten (10) years of employment experience in access control, audio-visual installation, maintenance, testing and programming.
- Audio-visual design, installation, programming, and maintenance required.
Skills Required
- Demonstrated experience managing projects.
- Working knowledge of LAN/WAN/WLAN protocols.
- Expert knowledge of cabling and fiber infrastructure.
- Must be well organized with attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of National Electrical Code.
- Willing to work independently and be reliable.
- Must be in good physical condition with the ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, and twist for extended period as well as climb, lift, hold, and move objects weighing a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
- Knowledge of and ability to operate hand and power tools, light and heavy equipment, and other applicable tools, equipment, and machinery to perform assigned duties as required.
- Basic knowledge of network design and architecture.
- Experience managing and monitoring network and physical security.
- Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and training.
- Must have a working knowledge of computers with the ability to work in a Windows environment with various software programs such as Word, Excel, etc.
- Must have a working knowledge and experience with fire and burglar alarm systems.
- Must have working knowledge and experience with Access Control and Card Key software and hardware.
- Must have working knowledge of Crestron, Extron, software and hardware.
- Must be able to efficiently and effectively program all access control and audio-visual systems.
- Must have design, installation, and maintenance experience with video teleconference systems.
- Should be skilled in formulating, evaluating, and implementing business plans.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
- Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license and an insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines.
- Ability to travel and participate in training as recommended to meet the goals and objectives of applicable programs.
- IT services are subject to 24/7 on-call assignments as deemed necessary for Tribal Government Operations.
- Ability to adequately and successfully perform all duties and responsibilities of this position.
