SCOPE OF POSITION : Child Protection Investigator shall investigate all aspects of child abuse and neglect and assure the protection of the child. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES :
Investigates assigned reports of child abuse and neglect and submit completed investigation to the supervisory Social Worker/Director of CPS for follow up action.
Maintains relationship with community resources by responding to reports of abuse and neglect.
Works closely with Law Enforcement, Tribal Federal prosecutor’s office, Tribal Court and Federal Investigators, for the benefit of the child victim.
Provides written reports to children’s courts on a timely basis.
Provides testimony to the appropriate court if necessary, Tribal and Federal Courts.
Attends local established Child Protection Team meetings.
Will work on “On Call” schedule as needed.
Transports clients to Forensic interviews or examinations as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS : 1. Two year degree in Criminal Justice or related field. 2. Must have experience and specialized skills in the area of child abuse and neglect investigations. 3. Knowledge of Tribal, State and Federal court systems and agencies. 4. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. 5. Must possess organizational skills and detail oriented. 6. Knowledge of Native American Culture preferred. 7. Must possess a valid drivers license and appropriate insurance. 8. Must pass a Tribal, State and Federal background check.
