Executive Assistant to the City Manager and City Council
This is an exempt, full-time, classified position with full benefits that serves at the pleasure and will of the City Manager. Hiring range 29: $33.94 - $42.43 per hour. Full long-term range of position extends to $50.91 per hour. Under the direction of the City Manager, performs highly responsible professional work serving as a key liaison between the administrative and legislative branches of City government. This position is the principal coordinator for all administrative functions and activities within the Administration Department and is responsible for managing and coordinating schedules for the City and Deputy City Managers, Mayor and Council. This position assists the PIO in coordinating and distributing information to news media outlets, local, State, Federal and Tribal governments, and ensures seamless communication between all departments. This position coordinates special projects, interdepartmental initiatives, and assists the City Manager in the implementation of policies set by the Mayor and City Council. This position provides advice and support to the City Manager, Mayor, City Council, various officials, departments, boards, and committees in the implementation and administration of City policies, goals, and objectives. Performs a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of the executive operations and requires minimal supervision, with significant initiative and discretion in daily activities. Minimum Qualifications: The equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in business/public administration from an accredited college or university, or a combination of education and work experience equivalent to ten (10) years in administrative/executive support, management analyst or other closely related field. Significant experience in a senior administrative or leadership role within a governmental or public sector environment is desirable. Proven track record of successful oversight of multiple departments and coordination of complex projects. Bi-lingual in Spanish desired, but not required.
Physical Requirements: This classification is in an office environment requiring mostly sedentary activities for the majority of the workday. Must be able to travel between facilities regularly. Must have hearing and speaking ability sufficient to clearly and concisely communicate in person and over the telephone.
