General Job Description: We are seeking a compassionate Employment Support Professional to provide personalized one-on-one support for individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities (IDD) in community settings, primarily focused on employment-related supports in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. This role is crucial in assisting individuals to achieve their employment goals and foster social connections within the workplace. The ideal candidate will possess strong time management, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a dynamic, innovative team environment. Responsibilities:
Utilize a person-centered approach to assist individuals in achieving their personal goals of gaining meaningful employment, emphasizing respect for individuality and promoting independence.
Conduct community mapping to identify and access resources that support employment growth and development, focusing on networking with local businesses, organizations, and community resources.
Engage in job development, focusing on finding meaningful employment opportunities that align with the skills and interests of individuals, while also building the skills necessary to attain such employment.
Provide job coaching to support individuals in their current workplace roles, ensuring they can perform tasks independently, adapt to the workplace, and master tasks.
Support individuals in building and maintaining workplace relationships with colleagues and supervisors, fostering a network of natural supports.
Focus on job retention strategies, emphasizing the fading process to facilitate the transition of individuals to relying on natural supports in the workplace, ensuring their long-term success and independence.
Maintain regular and effective communication with individuals, their families, supervisors, and support staff.
Keep accurate and comprehensive documentation of all employment-related services, adhering to organizational policies and procedures.
Manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks for the successful completion of employment-focused responsibilities.
Complete all required training to enhance skills and knowledge in providing specialized employment support.
Collaborate closely with the Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities, and Hospitals (BHDDH), the Office of Rehabilitation Services (ORS), and the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) to ensure alignment with regulatory guidelines and to access additional resources for individuals being supported. This involves regular communication, coordination of services, and staying updated with policy changes that may impact service delivery.
Act as a trainer and teach classes to further develop the skills and knowledge of staff to provide employment support to individuals.
Teach classes to individuals to ensure they are well-prepared for employment opportunities.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Director, tailored to the specific needs of the program.
Qualifications: · High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field/one year experience working with people with disabilities and their families preferred · ACRE certification preferred · At least 18 years of age · Possession of a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of valid insurance and car registration · Ability to successfully pass criminal background checks If you are passionate about providing person-centered employment support to individuals with IDD and have skills in supported employment, we invite you to apply for this impactful role.
