DONATION ATTENDANT LEAD - DIMOND

JOB SUMMARY
Donation Attendant Lead assists store or ADC supervisor and manager by providing leadership and training to assigned donation personnel. Lead performs and trains the following duties both independently and as a member of a team. Accept donated goods from the public and provide excellent customer service. Maintain work area in a neat and orderly manner both inside and outside. Assist in other areas of the agency as needed, to meet the needs of the business. Must adhere to Goodwill Industries rules, policies, and safety procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists ADC or Store Supervisor with training of donation attendants within the donation processing area.
  • Perform opening duties to workstation by reviewing donation area ensuring it is clean and safe work areas.
  • Greet donors at their vehicle with receipt in hand.
  • Thank donor for donations and ensure that receipt is offered to each donor, regardless of size of donation and ask donor to return.
  • Assist donor in unloading acceptable donations in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Accept donations from the public, transferring items to the appropriate tote, cart, or basket.
  • Meet or exceed mystery shopper by 90% or higher.
  • Keep supervisor informed of problems and suggestions related to the job.
  • Handles customer/donor complaints appropriately.
  • Coach and trains staff to meet agency expectations.
  • Sort donations according to current Goodwill Industries requirements. Separate donations by type, not quality.
  • Ensure that donations are secure and Goodwill Industries sort is performed indoors.
  • Assist in the maintenance of a clean retail environment by dusting furniture and/or tidying on the sales floor.
  • Prepare records and reports, as requested.
  • Identify and properly dispense of garbage.
  • Identify and process recyclable material as appropriate.
  • Keep donation area neat, clean and orderly.
  • Transport stock to and/or from workstation to other areas.
  • Empty garbage and recycling bins.
  • Retrieve and collect shopping carts and baskets, as necessary.
  • Sweep and/or mop floor.
  • Load and unload trucks of donated goods and equipment.
JOB EXPECTATIONS
  • Maintain well-groomed appearance and acceptable dress in compliance with Goodwill Industries dress guidelines. (See Handbook policy 172)
  • Represent the company by providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, CARF standards, and safety and security regulations.
  • Must be able to meet and communicate effectively with the public.
  • Must be able to read and write.
  • Must be able to function independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must not present a direct threat to the safety and health of self, others or to property.
  • No record or disclosure of criminal conviction that indicates a tendency toward theft, violence, dishonesty, deceit, drug manufacture or sale, moral turpitude, or predatory behavior.
  • Must provide identification and eligibility to work in the United States of America.
  • Must pass drug-screening test.
  • Must be able communicate effectively with co-workers and customers.
  • Must exercise good judgment.
  • Be flexible in work assignment to accommodate changing production demands.
  • Must have sufficient command of the English language to communicate with customers, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Reports for scheduled work regularly and on time. Notifies supervisor as soon as possible regarding the need and expected duration of any absence.
  • Must be able to perform essential functions of the Donation Attendant Leads job description task analysis with or without accommodation.

EXPERIENCE
Six months related experience. Prior forklift experience preferred.

EDUCATION

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have the ability to become Goodwill forklift certified.

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Must be able to do heavy lifting, stand, walk, carry, push, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, grasp, kneel and climb.
  • DOT Strength classification: Heavy.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Indoor and outdoor working conditions with exposure to all weather. Moderate adaptability required: Work environment is mostly hectic (fast paced) with irregular short deadlines and limited number of critical or unusual situations. May be exposed to dust. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

WORK HOURS
Must be able to work the hours the store or donation site is open.
