Summary:

Plan, organize, and direct all operations of the Professional Coding department including strategic planning, fiscal management, human resource management, quality improvement, coding and regulatory compliance. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies including the Joint Commission, Arkansas Department of Health Rules and Regulations, and Medical Staff Rules and Regulations.

Description
1. Corresponds with physicians and nurses through email and phone calls to dictate, e-sign charts as needed. Reviews status of medical record completion through Epic on a routine basis.

2. Compiles and maintains monthly resident reward and delinquent list for resident and attending physicians.

3. Reviews quality indicators monthly in all areas for compliance. Ensures all new and revised forms, whether paper or electronic, meet regulatory requirements.

4. Ensures that the integrity of AC health records is maintained for business and legal purposes according to TJC, CMS, and Arkansas Dept. of Health, legal and professional practice standards. Ensures a complete, accurate legal health record that may be kept in a variety of media including, but not limited to, electronic, paper, digital images, video, and audio.

5. Leads and supports ongoing activities that promote safe practices and a safe environment. Develops quality improvement processes that include goals and performance targets.

6. Maximizes resources to provide employees with tools, resources and an environment to succeed. Maximizes and manages allocated resources to achieve desired departmental and program results (staffing, space, equipment and supplies).

7. Implements development plans for employees that will strengthen current and future capabilities and enable them to contribute fully in their job role and the organization.

8. Prepares, justifies and administers departmental and program budgets.

9. Leads strategies to improve financial performance for assigned areas and hospital, including expenses, revenue and productivity.
