Position Overview: The Historic Wilmington Foundation (HWF) Development & Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment of sponsors, the writing of grants, and the coordination of signature fundraising events. Utilizing communications skills, including copywriting and graphic design. HWF’s Development & Outreach Coordinator will communicate the organization’s mission, initiatives, and progress to members and the broader public through newsletters, fundraising appeals, website updates/maintenance, and social media. Through collaboration and communication, the HWF Development & Outreach Coordinator will help create, grow, and celebrate connections that allow HWF to strengthen our impact on the people and places we serve. Job Duties:
Research and write grants to support HWF’s programs and projects
Develop relationships with potential new sponsors and maintain partnerships with existing sponsors by Identifying and communicating shared goals, highlighting the mutual benefit of sponsorship, and building personal connections through regular engagement and expressions of gratitude.
Utilize creative writing, copyediting, and graphic design skills to produce social media posts, newsletters, press releases, event programs and signage, mid-year and end of year appeals, and annual reports.
Manage HWF’s social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms.
Organize HWF’s hallmark events, including the Azalea Festival Home Tour and the Annual Luncheon, while also working on smaller events throughout the year (e.g., Preservation Month, Preservation Weekend, etc.)
Support HWF’s mission by working with the Executive Director to identify opportunities to partner with, support, and/or educate community stakeholders, including but not limited to: HWF members, nonprofits, schools and neighborhood and civic organizations.
Utilize NEON to record all interactions with and contributions by sponsors, volunteers, etc. and use this data to identify successful campaigns and regularly follow up with valued supporters to sustain engagement.
Update the website regularly, including general maintenance as well as the addition of webpages for new events, initiatives, etc.
Serve as HWF’s representative on the Board of Wilmington Downtown, Inc. (WDI).
Coordinate volunteers, enacting simple outreach strategies to organize and maintain ongoing volunteer relationships.
Ensure that all public presentation and marketing of HWF is reflective of content strategy and organizational branding.
Qualifications:
A degree in nonprofit management, business, communication, or public history.
Experience working in a similar historic preservation organization, the not-for-profit sector, and/or a related field.
1-3 years of development/fundraising experience and event planning.
Interest in historic preservation and history.
Ability to work in a small team environment.
