Curriculum Designer and Trainer


We seek a motivated and experienced Curriculum Designer and Trainer to join our team temporarily. The primary responsibility of this role is to collaborate in designing a comprehensive curriculum framework for a training program focused on addressing tensions and conflicts associated with allegations of discrimination in K-12 schools. The successful candidate will develop engaging and interactive learning materials, ensure alignment with established learning objectives and instructional strategies, and co-lead the pilot training.
  • Please be aware that funding for this position is awarded through a Grant/Contract over a specified period. Employment for this position beyond current Grant/Contract funding is contingent upon continued funding or a new Grant/Contract.

Essential Duties
Curriculum Development:
  • Collaborate with the team to design a comprehensive curriculum framework focused on hate, discrimination, conflict resolution, and improvement science.
  • Outline the structure, sequence, and content of training modules, ensuring they provide a logical progression of knowledge and skills.
  • Incorporate evidence-based practices and research on addressing hate, promoting inclusivity, resolving conflicts, and applying improvement science methodologies.
Material Creation:
  • Develop engaging and interactive learning materials tailored to modules on hate, discrimination, conflict resolution, and improvement science.
  • Create presentations that clearly explain complex topics like bias, systemic inequities, and conflict resolution strategies in an accessible and impactful way.
  • Develop worksheets and handouts with case studies, role-playing scenarios, and reflective activities that encourage participants to apply concepts in real-world settings.
  • Incorporate multimedia elements such as videos, infographics, and digital tools to address different learning styles and keep participants engaged.
Alignment:
  • Ensure all learning materials align with the program’s established objectives, including fostering understanding, critical thinking, and actionable problem-solving in the context of hate, discrimination, and conflict resolution.
  • Integrate improvement science principles into the learning modules to guide participants in using data-driven approaches for systemic change.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts to ensure all content's accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and relevance.
Pilot Training:
  • Co-lead pilot training sessions, facilitating discussions and activities that explore topics such as addressing incidents of discrimination, mediating conflicts, and using improvement science tools to create a culture of inclusion.
  • Guide participants through role-playing and scenario-based learning to practice responding effectively to hate and discrimination while fostering a positive school climate.
  • Collect and analyze participant feedback to refine and optimize the training content and delivery approach.
Other Duties:
  • Assist with logistical and administrative tasks, such as preparing training schedules, organizing materials, and documenting outcomes.
  • Support the evaluation of the training program’s impact on participants' knowledge, skills, and confidence in addressing hate, discrimination, and conflict.
  • Stay informed about new research and resources related to conflict resolution, anti-discrimination practices, and improvement science to enhance the curriculum over time.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a school administrator
  • Proven experience in curriculum design and development.
  • Strong understanding of instructional strategies and learning objectives.
  • Ability to create engaging and interactive learning materials.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in training or facilitating educational programs.
EDUCATION:
  • Minimum Doctorate Degree, Ed D or Ph D, required.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Prolonged sitting in front of a computer. Walking, talking, hearing, pulling, bending, carrying 10-15 pounds of objects/material, not exposed to extreme noise level, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands or arms, stooping, kneeling, tasting or smell.
