Job Summary
Performs a variety of financial analysis and reporting functions in conformance with established Bank policies and procedures. Manage finance and accounting department providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management, Board of Directors and other users in making educated economic decisions about the Bank’s future.
Performs any functions necessary, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers and the community in which it serves.
Principal Responsibilities
Oversee the activities of the corporate accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits, and annual budgets. Participates in the preparation and review of various Asset/Liability Management reports, Investment purchasing, processing, and reporting, and the calculation of the Allowance for Credit Losses.
Manages the activities of the disbursement department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, core employee expense reports, cash control, and total corporate payroll tax compliance, including 1099s.
Supervises department staff. Conducts periodic performance reviews, provides ongoing counsel, training, goal setting, development, and motivation. Develops cross-training plan and ensures staff members are properly trained and cross-trained in assigned functions. Participates in the hiring, salary, promotion, and termination recommendation process.
Handles daily liquidity, float, and cash management. Oversee daily G/L input balancing. Oversees all routine bank and general ledger account reconcilements. Oversee balancing of general ledger to COCC applications, as required. Perform variance analysis of assets/liability G/L accounts and income expense G/L accounts.
Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data, and enhance the company’s value.
Communicate regularly and often with CFO. Respond to CFO & Treasurer as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial needs.
Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
Communicate with co-workers, management, vendors, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
Education/Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent with (5) five to (7) seven years of experience in accounting or finance. One (1) year of relevant banking or financial services experience including exposure to Asset/Liability Management and Allowance for Credit Loss Analysis.. Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and demonstrate good organizational and communication skills, both oral and written. Must be proficient in using spreadsheet software. Must have PC computer skills including the Internet and Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position. MBA and CPA certification preferred.

Tasks performed by this position are varied. Requires a wide range of specialized knowledge of accounting principles, finance, and guidelines. This position requires advanced analytical skills. This position requires sound judgement and decision-making ability, critical thinking, and integrity. It provides strategic input to formulating department wide goals and objectives and ongoing evaluation. Refer specific cases to supervisor only where clarification or operating policies and procedures is required.
Responsibility
Probably errors may be serious, such as improper calculations or oversight, leading to delay in processing work. Effect usually confined to organization but may have adverse external effects. Work not subject to immediate check, hence involving considerable accuracy and responsibility. Internal and external contacts requiring a high degree of diplomacy, judgement, and the ability to deal with the influencers in all types of positions. Regularly works with confidential data which if disclosed, might be detrimental to the organization's interest.
Supervision
Supervises (4) four staff members: Accounts Payable (1), Accountant (1), Senior Accountant (1), and Assistant Controller.
Position Conditions
Normal. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hand to finger, handle controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop or kneel. The employee must occasionally life and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
