This role requires a thorough understanding of construction materials, methods, and market pricing to create competitive bids that reflect the scope of work. The Estimator collaborates with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to compile comprehensive estimates that drive the successful execution of projects. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in a similar industry.
Strong understanding of construction processes, codes, and regulations.
Proficiency in estimating software such as Pro Est, Bluebeam, Plan Swift, or similar platforms.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel for cost analysis.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with project stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze project blueprints, specifications, and documents to accurately determine project scope and requirements.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
Assess project risks and develop contingency plans in collaboration with project teams.
Work closely with project managers and construction teams to review estimates and track costs throughout the project lifecycle.
Create value engineering options to optimize project budgets and maximize profitability.
Prepare bid packages and proposals for submission to clients
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed.
Stay current with industry trends, pricing, and best practices to ensure competitive and accurate estimating.
Update and maintain historical cost databases for use in future project estimates.
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time position based out of the Guaynabo office with occasional site visits required.
Preferred Skills: Experience with both conceptual and hard bid estimating.Knowledge of various construction methodologies and materials.Understanding of project scheduling and construction sequencing.
