Position Type: Per Diem Staff

Shift & Hours: 3rd -11pm-7am

Weekends: One Shift Per Month

JOB SUMMARY:

Although the name of the position is Constant Attendant (CA), the position has two distinct types of observation.

As a CA, the observation of patients is less strict and could mean observing more than one patient.
As a 1:1, this type of observation is strict and requires remaining with the patient at all times at an arm’s length. Patients on 1:1 observation are on suicide precautions or restrained for behavioral management.

The expectation is to work 4 (four) shifts per month.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES – CONSTANT ATTENDANT

Remain alert and in visual contact with the patient at all times.

Assist the patient in daily activities as directed by the nurse.

Assist the nurse in restraining and removing restraints.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES – 1:1

Maintain direct 1:1 constant observation.

Keep patient within an arm’s length at all times, even when patient is bathing and toileting.

Remain alert and in visual contact with the patient at all times.

Assist the patient in daily activities as directed by the nurse.

Assist the nurse in restraining and removing restraints.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

1. High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

2. Successful completion of the hospital orientation for constant attendant within 3 months of hire required.

3. Current NVCIT (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training) certification or within 3 months of hire required.
