SUMMARY The Compliance and BSA Specialist assists the Compliance Officer, Bank Secrecy Act Officer, Audit Officer, and Community Reinvestment Act Officer. This position assists in originating, implementing, and maintaining the Bank’s compliance programs to ensure conformity and adherence with applicable local and federal laws, rules, and regulations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES · Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits and regulatory examinations. Address findings and implement corrective actions.
Process debit card claims in accordance with Regulation E &/or Bank policy and procedures.
Performs a variety of routine daily tasks; reviews reports, prepares correspondence; and participates in special department projects.
Maintains a proficient knowledge of all applicable banking laws, rules, and regulations and ensures that the Bank’s policies and procedures are updated accordingly.
Works with Compliance Officer to develop annual Compliance Training Curriculum. Helps coordinate compliance training presentations and exercises with all Bank personnel, including material presented to employees during the new hire orientation process.
Assists in maintaining the Bank’s Compliance Library and ensures materials are current and available for use and reference.
Assists the Audit Officer in coordinating audit plans or programs with third party auditors or regulatory examiners.
Maintains knowledge and awareness of financial industry audit controls and trends.
· Assists in conducting various compliance risk assessments as directed. · Monitors transactions to identify and report suspicious activities. Prepare and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) as required. · Creates, manages, and provides monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports to management. · Works closely with other departments to ensure a comprehensive approach to compliance and risk management. · Treats people with respect; keeps commitments; inspires the trust of others; works ethically and with integrity; and upholds organizational values; and accepts responsibility for own actions.
Performs the position safely, without endangering the health or safety to themselves or others and will be expected to report potentially unsafe conditions. The employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations and orders issued pursuant to the OSHA Act of 1970, which are applicable to one’s own actions and conduct.
