Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Local News Reporter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to journalistic ethics, a nose for news, and the ability to connect with our community. This role involves gathering information, conducting interviews, and crafting compelling stories across various mediums – print, online, and potentially video.

Job Summary:

This role involves gathering information, conducting interviews, and crafting compelling stories across various mediums – print, online, and potentially video.
Responsibilities:
- Generate story ideas and pursue leads for local news coverage in Pierce County and the surrounding communities.
- Attend city council meetings, court hearings, community events, and other newsworthy events.
- Conduct interviews with local residents, officials, and experts.
- Write clear, concise, and accurate news stories, adhering to AP style guidelines.
- Develop sources and maintain relationships within the community.
- Produce multimedia content, including photos and potentially videos, to accompany stories.
- Meet deadlines and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborate with the news team to ensure comprehensive coverage of local events.
- Stay up-to-date on local issues and trends.
- Adhere to the highest standards of journalistic integrity.
- Strong understanding of journalistic ethics and practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Familiarity with Rugby and the surrounding area is a plus.
- Experience with photography and videography.
- Experience with social media and online content creation.
Pay: From $14.66 per hour
