The Communications Maintainer will install, inspect, and test all Metra’s indoor and outdoor communication systems at various locations. Perform all maintenance and repair of all telecommunication equipment, including VHF/UHF radios and radio dispatching systems, public address and video surveillance systems, automatic revenue collection equipment, alarm monitors, GPS networks, fiber optic systems, and communication computer networks. Conduct component and circuit board level repair as well as macroscopic troubleshooting of major systems. Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). This position is issued a cellular phone and is subject to on-call status, including nights, weekends, and holidays per the union contract.

Job Requirements
Associate degree in Electronics OR in lieu of specified degree, any combination of education and telecommunications and/or military experience that equals (2) two years.
Must have three (3) years of communications work experience that includes Board level Radio communication Radio Frequency (RF) repair, inside/outside plant telecommunication equipment/systems, or computer/computer networking.
Must be Operating Rules qualified within six (6) months of hire
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Preferred
Federal Communications Commission License preferred.
