Position Summary: Utility Partners of America (UPA), a leading National Utility Contractor is seeking qualified Class A Lineman in the upstate of South Carolina. Class A Lineman is a skilled position in the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical overhead distribution systems. Essential Functions:
Understands the importance of working safely while performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead work.
Will work frequently with energized high voltage systems requiring both skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others.
Must be capable of leading crew members in the absence of the Foreman.
Must be capable of planning safe work based on a job print or work order.
Must be able to effectively conduct a pre-job or tailgate briefing.
Will maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools to ensure they are in good working order.
Must be able to install transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
Must have the ability to troubleshoot primary and secondary systems.
Must be capable of safely installing and removing mechanical jumpers.
Must be willing to glove/work live high voltage distribution power lines.
Must be able to safely perform a reconductoring job.
Must have knowledge of stringing overhead wire.
Must be capable of replacing cutout fuses and clearing faulted circuits and systems.
Must be able to identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit.
Must be familiar with induced voltage.
Must have knowledge of grounding procedures.
Must be capable of properly installing and removing PPE and cover up.
Must understand how to phase out a line using phasing sticks.
Must understand how to obtain a one shot on a recloser.
Must understand how to use a load bust tool.
Must be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather conditions.
Must be able to perform rigorous physical labor.
Must be able to climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and possess the necessary tools to do so.
Must have the ability to work at high and/or confined spaces.
Must be capable of setting poles and anchors.
Does all other related work as required to complete the job.

Must have a clean criminal background.
Must have clean (MVR) driving record.
Must pass a 5-panel drug test.
5-year minimum experience in recent field.
Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English.
Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days of employment, a Commercial Driver’s License is preferred.
Must be willing to work overtime when requested.
Must be able to travel long distances on short notice, when required.
Must be able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.
Must be able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
Must be able to properly inspect rubber goods and PPE.
