Drop bury jobs focus on taking steps to install and maintain cables and fiber optic connections underground. As a drop bury technician, you install cable in the ground or access it for repair jobs. A technician or drop bury crew member assesses the wire and may replace it if necessary. You may operate various pieces of digging equipment depending on the scope of the project.
Ability to work outside in extreme heat, cold or rain.
Must be able to lift, handle, and carry 80-pound.
Carry a 28-foot extension ladder and meet ladder safety requirements. (Standard heavy duty ladder body weight restrictions are 275 pounds, extra heavy-duty ladder body weight restrictions 350 pounds)
Must be able to work at heights of 3-28 ft.
Must be able to bend, stand, sit, crawl, climb, and lift throughout each day.
Must be able to work in tight spaces, such as crawl spaces
Be able to operate a vehicle, drop bury machine, hand tools, power tools, ladders, signal level meters, volt meters, converters, cable locators, leakage detection devices, and other test equipment.
