The Brown Bag Bus is The YMCA of Greater Montgomery’s one-of-a-kind initiative to combat the effects of childhood hunger in Montgomery, Alabama. Our Brown Bag Bus is unique and serves an immediate need in our community. Outfitted with healthy meals, it travels to different areas in the Montgomery community to serve lunch to those in need. We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused driver to join our dynamic team. As the driver of our Brown Bag Bus, you will be responsible for safely operating our Brown Bag Bus, ensuring timely delivery of meals to children in our community and providing an excellent service experience. This role requires a commitment to safety, and a friendly, professional attitude. Key Responsibilities:
Safe Vehicle Operation: Drive the bus to various locations as scheduled, ensuring safe and timely arrival at each destination.
Food Service: Pick up food at distribution site, prepare for distribution at designated sites.
Customer Service: Greet children and parents with a friendly attitude.
Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine checks on the bus to ensure it is in good working order. Report any vehicle issues to property.
Inventory Management: Assist with tracking distribution of food and notify supervisor of any distribution issue.
Compliance: Follow health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and traffic laws at all times. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation inside bus.
Route Planning: Follow designated routes to ensure timely distribution of meals at scheduled sites,.
Team Collaboration: Work with staff and other team members to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications:
CDL
Valid Driver's License: A clean driving record
Experience: Prior driving experience is a plus but not required.
Customer Service: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
Physical Stamina: Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs, sit or stand for long periods.
Availability: Must be able to work Monday – Friday 1-6 (varies for holidays).
Team-Oriented: Willingness to work closely with other staff members to deliver exceptional service and ensure operational efficiency.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance or the willingness to learn.
Route-planning familiarity.
Certifications and Trainings
CPR; First Aid; AED
Praesidium risk management trainings
