Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, policies and procedures, the Registration/Biller interviews and registers patients for Health System services including outpatient, occupational health patients, scheduling for appointments. Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, and other departments. Completes necessary forms and records. Greets and provides directional assistance to visitors and patients. Enters and sets up client billing accounts, charges on OH visits, fills out first report of injury for workers ’ compensation, as well as any necessary forms required for BWC claims for Occupational Health clients.
Education: High school graduate or equivalent is preferred with an emphasis on a business curriculum strongly preferred
Licensure/Certification: N/A
Experience: A minimum of six months experience in billing is required. Previous experience billing in a health care/clinic setting and demonstrated understanding of Explanation of Benefits issued by payors are strongly preferred.Experience with Bureau of Workman’s Compensation, TPA’s, MCO’s and private pay clients preferred.
Skills: Strong verbal, numerical and clerical skills and the documented ability to perform at a high level of efficiency and accuracy are required. Must be proficient in use of word processor/computer software to include Microsoft Word and Excel . Proficient use of office equipment such as fax, and scanner preferred. Must obtain knowledge and become a proficient user of SYSTOC and Medi-Tech. Knowledge of forms used in processing BWC claims desired.
