You will play a critical role in supporting families impacted by domestic violence on their journey to recovery, resilience, and independence at De Colores Domestic Violence Shelter. This rewarding role involves direct advocacy and support for survivors of domestic violence, connecting them to vital community resources and guiding them through essential recovery services. With your skills in case management, crisis intervention, and family advocacy, you’ll help clients regain stability and empower them towards independence.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide compassionate support to families in crisis, helping them access resources and supportive services tailored to their unique journeys.
- Advocate for domestic violence survivors and support them through structured case management and personalized assistance.
- Collaborate with shelter staff and local community organizations to connect clients with mental health, legal, financial, and housing resources.
- Manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment to meet the needs of families and the program’s goals.
Minimum Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience in case management, advocacy, crisis intervention, and supportive services.
- Ability to work effectively with families experiencing trauma, delivering nonjudgmental and empathetic support.
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills with local community resources.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured under an automotive policy.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule to meet program needs.
- Current Fingerprint Clearance Card (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire) and background screening required.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
